The Grades of Acne

The Grades of Acne

Acne is graded by dermatologists on a four-point scale, with 1 the mildest and 4 the worst.

Rhonda Allison acne products can help acne prone skin by reducing inflammation, the production of oil and lesions which help prevent acne scars.

Regular visits to a Dermatologist office or a Licensed Esthetician (depending on the severity anywhere from monthly to every 2-3 weeks) for a deep cleanse/exfoliation, extractions and calming mask are also critical in the control of acne. Please check with your physician before using any product for acne prone skin. What you will find on this website is my opinion based on my personal experience.

Grade 1 Acne - This skin shows open and closed comedones (blackheads and whiteheads) everywhere, mostly on T-zone. Pimples can occur, but not as often. Teenagers commonly suffer from Grade 1 Acne but you can see it even in the early 20’s, 30’s and 40’s which is called persistent acne..

Suggestion: You need a good Deep Cleaning Facial. Check reviews online to find a good Licensed Esthetician in your area.

I love Rhonda Allison products. Their products offer only the purest quality and are extremely efficient. The Licensed Estheticians who use their products have to go through extensive education with well educated instructors.

There are Dermatologist offices that provide a quick extraction visit and probably your Health Insurance can cover it. My clients complained that facials provided in a Doctor’s office were more painful, because it was done quickly and the professionals did not use a calming mask at the end of the facial. Please do your homework to find the right professional for you.

Watch what you have been eating, and play detective.

When you eat sugar do you see your skin producing more oil, do you break out?

There are controversies but I have seen through myself and clients that fast food, sugar, cheese, milk, yogurt, gluten, chips, fried foods, seafood we can see a connection between diet and more breakouts.

Blemish Complex (use in the evening on the top of the pimples. Do not use more than 5 days on a row).

Grade 2 Acne- Many closed comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), Pimples are more frequent. Papule (Red, sore pump without a whitehead) and Pustule(like a Boil or Abscess, it has pus) are more frequent.

My dear friend, you need a facial big time. If you try to do extractions by yourself it will cause scars.

I would suggest monthly facials (in some cases every 2-3 weeks) for at least 4 months or until the inflammation calms down.

Check www.rhondaallison.com to find a Licensed Esthetician located in your area.

Watching your diet, and stress control are very important to find a balance for a Grade 2 Acne.

Again fast food, sugar, cheese, milk, yogurt, gluten, chips, fried food, seafood can aggravate inflamed skin.

After 4 months of regular facials, changing lifestyle and using the products I suggest below my Acne prone skin clients are very happy with their skin.

Grade 3 Acne – The skin is red and inflamed. You find a lot of open and closed comedones (blackhead) and many papules and pustules.

I highly recommend that you see a Dermatologist. The right Doctor will request a blood test to check all your hormone levels, vitamin deficiency etc.

A functional or Integrative Doctor would help you in a more holistic way, but if your Health Insurance doesn’t cover any of this specialties ask for your Dermatologist to request at least a blood test to check your hormone levels.

Grade 4 Acne – Called cystic acne, you find many deep cysts and scar formation.

This grade is more severe and the damage is deeper, a Dermatologist specializing in peels and cosmetic procedures would be recommended to help reversing part of the scars.

When I used to work with Doctors I saw many of those last 2 Grades mentioned above. A common observation was the patient’s diet was poor and their level of stress was extremely high.

Most of those patients had Acne disease running in their family. Yes, Acne is hereditary. And, as with other hereditary disease, when we change our lifestyle the health of our body improves significantly, so please go to see your Doctor. Just remember, you need to find a balance with your diet, stress and hormones to heal your acne.

I used to have acne in my 20’s, mine was Grade 2, I was already an Esthetician back home in Brazil, took me 6 months but I healed my acne skin with the right changes in my lifestyle and using the right active ingredients. Nowadays, if I eat too much sugar I still get the occasional breakout.
